A consultant is someone who consults with a client. They analyse, evaluate, investigate or review processes, situations, things or activities. They make assessments and recommendations. Often, they follow up with teaching, coaching, mentoring or advising. Some engagements require the consultant’s expertise for implementation.

Freelancers are skilled people who have chosen to work at their chosen profession outside of the typical employer-employee agreement. They may work at home, remotely or provide specialist skills the client requires. Freelancers typically complete specific tasks, as opposed to analysing, assessing, recommending, changing and implementing.
